Counselors and Staff

Helen Amend Hoffses, MSW, LCSW

Helen studied Communications for her undergraduate degree and worked in theater, event planning and production for many years before dedicating herself to raising her children full-time. When faced with the autism diagnosis of her eldest, she began educating herself about the disorder in order to be the best possible parent to her child. After being diagnosed with ADHD herself, Helen returned to school for her master’s in social work so she could help other families that live with ADHD and ASD every day.

Helen has worked at high schools in Maine and North Carolina helping teens at risk and those who have experienced trauma. She is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy for the treatment of PTSD and has extensive training and experience working with those with those on the autism spectrum and with ADHD and other executive functioning issues.

Helen brings her wealth of experience, knowledge and commitment to helping others to session. She is passionate about giving teens a voice and helping them become successful adults and about providing parents the skills they need in order to help their children succeed. She has led and taught parenting groups and classes and trained area teachers on teens and various mental health issues.

In her spare time she enjoys gardening, binging on Netflix and spending time with family.
